AT A COMING OF AGE...
Young adolescent boys from the African Maasai tribe were traditionally given by their mothers into the care of their fathers to be trained in the tribe's warrior ways.
To become Moran ...warriors. A crucial rights of passage important to both boy and tribe. These young men, bolstered with new skills and the bravery of having a warrior's purpose, were sent out into the wild where they were given the mortal task of hunting a lion.
Today the Moran serve to protect the endangered lion, rather than hunt it.
Their purpose remains strong and their bravery sharp.

Achieving independent financial success & living in comfort now surrogates living with meaning, purpose and in close connection to others. Our once tribal ways and our communities have been swallowed by big city living & the way we connect to each other is now mostly by wire & WiFi.
The reliable footing towards becoming a man...& journeying and growing through life as a man are no longer built into our western culture.
We must take responsibility for the world we are creating and for what we model for our youth.
Our western world today is based on the seemingly noble cause of creating “ease” & “wealth” for an ever growing number of people. It is true that humankind has made many amazing advancements with opportunities like never before. It is equally true that along the way, people in the modern world have lost connection with each other as well as their sense of true north for what is right and meaningful.
From this relatively new ground, we look at our youth and we see how lost they are. Of course they would be …as we have brought them into a world where we have given up and lost our ways.
WHAT TRUE PASSAGE TO & THROUGH MANHOOD IS AVAILABLE TODAY?

To initiate a new journey where you learn to establish and live with strong roots in this modern world, you ...men of all ages... are invited to gather in person on a 4 day rites of passage.
An initiation towards

FINDING THE LION
The Lion Hunt Rites of Passage is a 4 day group experience to allow developing boys and men to identify who they are, grow their sense of belonging, identify their natural purpose & direction, and learn how to form their clan where each can be supported and celebrated by the other.
It’s a preparation for finding the lion out there in the world & for cultivating your inner lion
The focus of The Lion Hunt Rites of Passage program are
- Discovery of self and purpose
- Father / son connection and connection to family and tribe.
- Formation of and bonding to a clan of men.
Our modern way of living generally dismisses these cornerstones of healthy and happy male development. It is a right of passage to develop these in our lives as a man, whether father or son.
“Father” is a role. It may be a biological father or it can be another man who has assumed the role of father.
